G. Bhasker Urges Lt. Governor to Personally Inspect NH-4 from Jirkatang to Diglipur

Sri Vijaya Puram: Chairman of the Campaign Committee of the Andaman & Nicobar Territorial Congress Committee (ANTCC), Shri G. Bhasker , has urged the Lieutenant Governor of the Andaman & Nicobar Islands to personally travel along National Highway-4 from Jirkatang to Diglipur and assess the condition of the road and the difficulties faced by residents of North and Middle Andaman. In a press release, Bhasker said NH-4, which he described as the lifeline of North and Middle Andaman, continues to remain in poor and deteriorating condition despite repeated assurances regarding its improvement and completion. Bhasker recalled the Chakka Jam organised by the Congress Party on November 1, 2025 , which, according to him, was subsequently called off following assurances concerning the improvement and completion of NH-4. During repeated outages, residents depend on backup power for fans, lights, internet routers, computers and other basic electrical equipment. 13 Hospitalized After STS School Bus Accident Near Kishorinagar in North Andaman

  Diglipur, July 10: An Andaman and Nicobar State Transport Service (STS) school bus carrying students from Kishorinagar towards Talbagan met with an accident on Friday morning after reportedly skidding off the road. According to information available from government and local sources, passengers were safely evacuated from the vehicle and shifted to the Primary Health Centre (PHC), Kishorinagar , before personnel from the Fire & Emergency Services reached the accident site. The vehicle involved has been identified as an STS bus attached to Paschim Sagar , bearing Registration No. AN 01 G 0034 , manufactured by Tata Motors Ltd. Vehicle registration records indicate that the bus is classified as a Bus (LPV), BS-II compliant , with a seating capacity of 45 passengers . It was registered on 21 December 2012 , making it approximately 14 years and 4 months old , while its certificate of fitness remains valid until 1 December 2026 .
