SFI Seeks Temporary STS Bus Diversion to JNRM via RGT Road

Port Blair, September 10, 2026:  The Students’ Federation of India (SFI), Andaman & Nicobar Islands, has urged the State Transport Services (STS) to temporarily divert college-timing buses through RGT Road directly towards JNRM College to ease difficulties faced by students travelling from southern parts of South Andaman . In a representation dated September 10, 2026, addressed to the Director of STS, SFI State Convenor Abdul Warish said students travelling to JNRM from areas including Jirkatang , Namunaghar, Mithakhari, Ferrargunj, Tushnabad, Wandoor, Chouldhari and surrounding areas were facing inconvenience due to traffic arrangements linked to the ongoing police recruitment process . According to the representation, STS buses carrying JNRM students are currently being dropped near Netaji Stadium, after which students have to walk approximately 2 kilometres to reach the college. CPI(M) Alleges Delhi Police Entered AKG Bhavan to Arrest SFI Leader; Police Cite 2021 Court Case

New Delhi | 28 July 2026 The Communist Party of India (Marxist) [CPI(M)] has alleged that Delhi Police entered its headquarters, AKG Bhavan , in New Delhi in an attempt to arrest Students' Federation of India (SFI) Joint Secretary Aishe Ghosh , leading to a confrontation between party leaders and police personnel. According to CPI(M), the police team arrived in a private vehicle, with some personnel allegedly in plain clothes. The party said Rajya Sabha MP John Brittas questioned the officers' presence inside the party headquarters and asked them to produce the warrant, following which the police team left the premises without making an arrest. CPI(M) General Secretary M.A. Baby described the incident as an unlawful attempt to arrest Ghosh and alleged that she had been under surveillance in recent days. SFI AMU Opposes Transfer of Andaman Colleges from Pondicherry University

Uttar Pradesh, 07 March 2026: The Students Federation of India unit of Aligarh Muslim University (SFI AMU) has strongly condemned the Central Government’s decision to transfer the affiliation of seven government colleges in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands from Pondicherry University. In a statement, Mehrin Rehman, President of SFI AMU, said that students of the islands are already geographically isolated and rely on affiliation with a Central University for access to quality higher education. She stated that the proposed decision could weaken students’ academic opportunities and further isolate learners from remote island regions. “SFI AMU strongly condemns this move and stands in complete solidarity with the students of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. We demand an immediate rollback of the decision,” she said.
