CPI(M) Alleges Delhi Police Entered AKG Bhavan to Arrest SFI Leader; Police Cite 2021 Court Case

New Delhi | 28 July 2026 The Communist Party of India (Marxist) [CPI(M)] has alleged that Delhi Police entered its headquarters, AKG Bhavan , in New Delhi in an attempt to arrest Students' Federation of India (SFI) Joint Secretary Aishe Ghosh , leading to a confrontation between party leaders and police personnel. According to CPI(M), the police team arrived in a private vehicle, with some personnel allegedly in plain clothes. The party said Rajya Sabha MP John Brittas questioned the officers' presence inside the party headquarters and asked them to produce the warrant, following which the police team left the premises without making an arrest. Sonam Wangchuk Ends 26-Day Fast; NEET Protest Movement Continues Across India

NEW DELHI, July 24:  Activist Sonam Wangchuk has ended his 26-day hunger strike after the Central Government agreed to hold talks with representatives of the student movement , marking a significant development in the ongoing nationwide protests over alleged examination paper leaks .  Despite Wangchuk calling off his fast, protest organisers have announced that demonstrations will continue across Delhi and several other states until concrete reforms are implemented. Today's nationwide campaign is being held under the slogan "Every District. One Day. One Demand." SFI AMU Opposes Transfer of Andaman Colleges from Pondicherry University

Uttar Pradesh, 07 March 2026: The Students Federation of India unit of Aligarh Muslim University (SFI AMU) has strongly condemned the Central Government’s decision to transfer the affiliation of seven government colleges in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands from Pondicherry University. In a statement, Mehrin Rehman, President of SFI AMU, said that students of the islands are already geographically isolated and rely on affiliation with a Central University for access to quality higher education. She stated that the proposed decision could weaken students’ academic opportunities and further isolate learners from remote island regions. “SFI AMU strongly condemns this move and stands in complete solidarity with the students of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. We demand an immediate rollback of the decision,” she said. Pondicherry, 25 February 2026: The Students’ Council of Pondicherry University (2025–26) has strongly opposed the Union Government’s reported decision to transfer the affiliation of seven colleges in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands from Pondicherry University. Comrade Syed Inayat Hussain, General Secretary of the Students’ Council and member of the Students Federation of India (SFI) , stated in a video message that the move could isolate students of the islands and weaken their access to quality public higher education under a Central University system.
